coulour run

Hello everyone on friday 26 of november we at hornby high school we had a coulour fun run at the start of the day we had our usual classes like cooking and we made food then we wnt back to the other class and done some B&E work while we waited for everything to start half an hour later it is interval and we play like usual and when we went back to class our teacher said lets go and wait outside.

Now that we are outside we have to wait in our year level like year seven and eight boys in one line year seven and eight girls in one line year nine and ten boys in one line and year 9 and 10 girls in one line and year 7 and 8 girls went threw the coulour run first and then the year 7 and 8 boys played tug of war and the year 10 and 9s were probbably doing something everyone said that it was a bouncy castle but it wasn't it was a water slide mixed with a bouncy castle anyway we finaly finished tug of war and then we had to sit down on the ground and wait for our turn and then like fifteen minutes later the drama teacher came over and wasted our enegy and our time of running kinda 

Finaly we got to run and sam was in first and i was in last but it was still fun and that is what matters kinda i eneded up running very slow but i got alot of coulour on me and i tried to get my hair couloured but i couldn't the coulour was paint dust and it got in my mouth and my ears and my eys and my knose i ended up finishing the race and got my water i done it again two times and it got boring in the end we just cleaned nd went home very early the end i am going to put a photo of me running and of the water slide bouncy caslte the end and bye. 

Hatupatu and the bird woman

Today we have again done the myths and legends work and I have finaly finished my second story of hatupatu and the bird woman. We had to do a bunch of stuff for it but not that much stuff and it was pretty easy to. I will leave some screenshots down below of my work and you can see what i have done for youself now go down there and ave a look.

 Today we were doing maori myths and legends. We had to do alot of work on a slide andI i thaut I might do my blog arround my poster I done on googke draw. I would usually use canva for this stuff but I thaut I should just use google draw for now. It didnt take me that long to make the poster and it was kinda fun making it too. I haven't made a poster like this in a while now so yeah I am proud of my work the poster should be down there.

Labour weekend

Introduction:

Hello people Today I will be blogging about my labour weekend. So it will mostly be about what I did. and who I did it with. My writting of what did should be down below you should go down there and have look see you there. 

My weekend: 

So on monday it was Labour day so we didn't have to go to school on monday so this is what I did on my Labour weekend so we will start at friday I just got home from school and I was tired I went upstairs to my room to play the game after a while I got bored so I went to my freinds house to see if he wanted to hang for a bit he said ok and then we went to maccas and got a drink then we went to the warehouse then I had to go home and I went upstairs to my room and went to sleep.  

Saturday: 

So it was now saturday and my mom woke me up really early because my cozins were coming over to see if I wanted to go to the new linwood pools with them I said to my mum that I will just get ready and I knew I might be staying at my cozins house for the rest of the weekend so I packed abunch of my cloths and my cozins came over I hoppend in the car and on the car ride to the pools I was talking to my cozin and watching tik tok on my phone we finally made it to the pools after a while and we went inside surprisingly there weren't that many people there so we were able to get in I went to the manu pool straight away to do some manus but after a while it got boring 2 hours passed my aunty came with some food we ate it and went back in for one more hour and then got out we then went to my auntys house and me and my cozin played on the Ps4. 

Sunday: 

it was now sunday me and my cozin slept in but we had to get up because we were going to sumna beach me and my cosin got ready and got in the car we went to countdown first and got iceblocks and bbq stuff for my cosins birthday we went to thebeachmade pictures out of the sand and me and my cosin went into the beach and almost got pulled back then we went back to the house and went on our phones. 

Monday: 

we got woke up and went to walk up rapaki mountain it took forever and i got tired and tried to drink sunscreen but when we got to walk down it was really fun and we couldn't stop we then went to margret mahey park and played for forever thn at five o clock we went to lyttleton and jumped of the warf it was real fun and i have a video of it. 

All about kea

 Hello people today we had to read the last three pages of Uncle Don Knows Heaps Of Wacky Stuff. So I read them and I chose to do my DLO about kea. I tried to finish my work as fast as I could. But I couldn't so I had to finish the rest at my house but I was able to finish it anyway. So my canva DLO should be down there so go have a look.  

Reflection: 

This one was an easy one because I already knew alot about kea. And alot of information was in the book. I was just able to make eight pages and I think I done pretty good. But I will let you deside if it is good or not so you go down and check it out if you want.

Stoats

Hello people today we had to read pages 17 to 22 of Uncle Don Knows Heaps Of Wacky Stuff. We then had to choose a animal from the 6 pages that we had to read so we could make a DLO about whatever we choose. I chose stoats because they are preditors and they are small and cute and they look like weasels. I tried to put the sound that stoats sound like on my canva poster but I couldnt so there is a video down there of what Stoats sound like. Reflection: 

It was pretty easy to read the book and then write about Stoats. I also learnt alot about birds and extinct  native animals to. Nz I thaut it would be hard since I just got out of the holidays but it wasnt that hard. I could do in like 1 hour and to me thats fast i now really like using canva to do my DLOs now last year I didnt even know what it was the only reason i started using it is because we were suppose to use something other than google docs and google slides so I just chose canva. That is pretty all for my reflection so bye.

Making hokey pokey

equipment 

• Pot 
• 2 table spoon Golden syrup 
• 5 table spoon of sugar 
• 1 table spoon of baking powder (sodium Bicarbonate Hydrogeen Carbonate) 
• wooden spoon for mixing 
• Stove/bunsen burner 
• baking paper  

Instructions: 

1. Get your equipment ready 
2. Set up your stove/bunsen burner. (yellow safety flame)
3. Put your pot on the tripod and use the bluse flame. 
4. Add the sugar and golden syrup to the pot.  
5. Mix it with the wooden spoon. 
6. Stop mixing and turn off the bunsen/stove when the sugar boiles.
7. Add the baking soda and mix.                                  
8. Pour the mixure onto the baking powder 
9. let it cool

Elvers

Hello people today we had to do a DLO on something from the book Uncle Don knows Heaps of Wacky Stuff. It is a book about sea creatures and stuff. I chose to do it on elvers because I knew alot about them kinda I knew they were transparent atleast. But enough about this the link should be down below. 

Reflection: 

I learnt that Elvers is just a diffrent name for baby Eels and that they have another name glass Eels. They also swim out from somewhere near Tonga. They can get stuck when they try to get inland and They can get stuck in like a dam or something. Covering the water when I was doing the DLO I was struggling at first to find pictures. But then I was able to find pictures and find facts on the book and a little google. I didnt hate it but I thaut it was ok because it was really easy for me.

Mental Health

Today in wananga we were doing are metal health stuff and we had to choose between six things i chose my favorite place to go to and we had to describe why we want to go there and stuff i chose mount fuji as my favorite place to go to and then I got a picture of mount fuji and made the google draw my work is down there i will put a link to it if you want a better look but if you cant be bothered the picture is just down there

what i enjoy about drama

Hello people today I am showing you what I liked about drama. 

What I like about comedy what comedy movies have you seen:

i enjoy comedy because because t makes me laugh and it is really funny i have seen alot of comedy movies my top 3 are epic movie,zombie land double tap,the hitmans wifes body guard and thats all 

What i enjoy about horror movies. 

comedy is another one of my faveourite genres because it gets be scared and pumped up when ever im board or tired i just watch a horror movie my favorite horror movies are the grudge,incideous the last key and old and thats all 

What i enjoy about sci fi. 

i like sci fi because i like futureristic movies and i will never get bored watching one of these out of all my faverite movies genres this one is my faveroute my faveroute sc fi movies are ready player one,avengers endgame,thor ragnarok

5. gently swap the surface of the agar jelly 

6. and then put it in your cup thing

What is a base?

 An acid is a liquid that has a Hydrogen H atom that can react.

For example:

• Hydrocloric acid     HCI                  

A base is the oppisite of an acid and has a OH (hydroxcide) that can react                       

                     

sand dunes facts

 For a while now me and my hurumanu class have been reading this book called Uncle Don knows heaps of wacky stuff. It is all about facts for the ocean. And today we had to write facts about sand dunes. But we couldnt do it on google slides. or anthing on google drive we had to do it on canva,jamboard and stuff like that. I done mine on canva. Reflection: 

I wasn't my first time using canva i used it once in primary school but thats all other than that I had a hard time trying to find the perfect pictures for it was weird not using google docs or something like that but I was able to do it alright

what is an acid

 Names of acids:

2. Rip the cabbage into small pieces then put them into a beaker/croncal flask   

3. Add 100 mL of hot water

meassage in a bottle

 here is my story i wrote As Jonah Mitchell rides the waves on the beach he sees a sparkle in the water. He gets distracted by it and doesn't see a big wave and he gets washed up back to the sand but he cant find his board anywhere he goes back to the ocean and tries to find but instead he sees the shiny object that distracted it he saw it was a bottle that had a note in it he grabs it and goes back to shore he forget about his board and just goes home. 

When he goes home he decides to open the bottle and read the note. It took him awhile to take off the lid but he did it in the end he was able to do it he reads the note and it says this note is from isaac newton and it 1660 i have been doing a bunch of experiments with sunlight and i have made light in a bit of glass and it also hangs on the ceiling i hope when someone finds this it will be when everybody uses my lights. It is 1665 now and this is my theory about gravity yesterday a apple fell on my head and that made me think of a thing that I call gravity. I am hoping someone will find this in the future and so they can know I invented gravity when people don't need to ride horses to get around from place to place. 

Jonah is shocked by this and takes it to people that are masters in this stuff and when he gets there they are amazed of his discovery and it is all true and now they know exactly when he invented they say to him he should put it in a museum and he does and the museum employes don't believe him and they tell him to get out he sadly sighs and walks out of the museum he then goes to the beach and pulls the bottle out and throws it in the ocean never to be seen again. 

10 years later jonah is walking on the tongan beach then jonah's son Frank finds a bottle with a note inside he says to his mum Ramona and his dad jonah and they come over to him and frank says i found a bottle with a note inside jonah says give to me i will check it out frank passes it over and jonah pulls the note out and is amazed that it is the same bottle that he found when he was 22 jonah told his family and they said that he should try put it in the museum again he says ok and goes to the tongan museum and gives it to them and they do believe him because it's not the same museum he gets 50k and this time he walks out happy.    

Making sherbet

Aim: 

I want to find out how to make sherbet  

Research: 

Method: 

Equipment 

• icing sugar and koreo 
• cup/conatainer 
• citric acid or tartaric acid 
• Baking powder 
• popscicle stick for mixing   

Instructions: 

1. get all your equipment ready 

2. Add on teaspoon of sugar/koreo to the cup. 

3. Add half a teaspoon of acid to the cup. 

4.add half a teaspoon of baking powder to the cup. 

5.mix with a stick 

6.taste the hserbet, and adjust the flavour.

Olympics

For the last week we have been doing slides on our favorite Olympic people. making ginger beer

Aim: 

i want to find out how to make homemade ginger beer

Method:

1.get something to stur with 

2.get yeast 

3.get a hole pack of sugar 

4.get lemon juice 

5. get warm water 

6.get a cup  

7.ginger

first get your cup and then pore water into the cup after put yeast in then you need to put sugar in it stur it 

for a while and then wait 10 minutes after the 10 minutes get your por a couple drops of lemon juice after that get some ginger and then put some in but if you want it to be really ginger beery put alot of ginger in it 

Results: 

How it taste/smells

It tasted strong and it hurt the back of my throat. So i put a lttle more water with some sugar and 4 drops of lemon juice. Then it tasted kinda good but not that good when i first started to smell it it smelt yuck. But after I couldnt smell anything. But then after 3 days after i can now smell the alcohole in it i have also tasted it and i can easily taste the alcohole in it and it taste good but bad at the same time.

Food 1:when i ate it it tasted like lime and then when i closed my knose i could not taste it properly but when i let go i could taste it. 

food 2: When i put it in my mouth i couldnt taste it but then i unblocked my knose i could taste it and it burnt the back of  my throat. 

food 3: When i tasted it i could feel the powder but when i let go of my knose i could taste it properly.

food 4: When i had i already knew it was salt and i knew i was gonna spit it out when i let go i tasted the sea.

food 4: When i saw it i knew it was sugar and it was meh but atleast i didnt have to pukeas sooon as i had it it desolved into my mouth. 

food 5: I knew it was sherbet from the start as soon as i had it it bubbled in my mouth and it was yuck.

shaping up

 For term 2 hurumanu3 we have been doing shapng up with Miss Bremners class. first we learnt about polygons and geometry matariki stars and then we learnt how to make them on a app called maths is fun  we answerd questions and made shapes on there here is the link if you want to check it out for your self.   https://www.mathsisfun.com/geometry/polygons.html after doing that for 3 weeks we learnt about lines and angles  like for activity one it was identify?match the lines and for activity two it was identifying lines. and for number three the last one it was something called four in a row then reflection rotation and transation. after that tho we had a recap sheet to do but finally after all that work we done something where you had to look at a picture of blocks all stacked up. the coulours were pink orange and blue once you looked at them you had to make an exact replica of it with some little building blocks. it only took me like half an hour but after that we finlly done scayling. first we done scailing on nz every centimetre was 170 miles then you had to times it by like 100 or something. then after that we got to do the usa scail it was 500 miles every centimetre. after you finished that you got to do things with some other maps this was my favourite thing we did cause we had to use directions and make objects. here is some of my work that i done but other then that this is all we done for the entire term so bye.

 

1900's decade music

for counting the beat 4 weeks ago we were doing a slide on music from each decade from 1900's 1960 

people in 1900 liked the opera cause the opera was a new thing people in the 1940s and up the liked jazz, blues,r&b,rock,regae and stuff like that. me and ropata were in a group when we were doing this we got all the way up to 1960s in about 2 or 3 weeks i think we found out alot of stuff to and found out about alot of people like bob marley elvis presly and louis armstrong duke ellington and much more thats all we learnt but hear is are slide and a couple of the videos we watched bye. :}

Ukuleles

                                                                     Ukuleles 

A ukulele is a small guitar shaped instrument and It has four strings attached to it. The four strings that are attached to it make noises when you strum it and then you make your beat. last week in my class we were doing counting the beat for hurumanu and we were obviesly learning about Ukuleles. The first thing we did was sit on the mat and learn all the diffrent parts of the ukulele and how many diffrent types of ukuleles there is. But after all that we got to get our own ukulele and we had to go outside. We also had to watch a tutorial video on how to play the ukulele most of the people watched the video all the way threw and learnt how to play you are my sunshine. But all the others were just playing around and just doing there own thing with the ukulele. Like me ok thats the end of the blog now so bye oh and also heres the video we watched.:}

Counting the beat

For the last couple of weeks we have been doing counting the beat. we have been learning about stomp and the cup song we also done Krakow. and we done the one with the sticks. today we were learning about guitars. we found out that the strings are made out of medal. we also found out that there are different types of guitar. like the bass,electric,acoustic guitar and the Spanish guitar and on a you tube video we found out there are different sounds. we found out all the different parts of the guitar. like the turning keys the nut and the fret that's all we learned today here's some pictures of different guitars.
